"Scope"
The laboratory aims at providing a context useful both for experimental research, and as a support to industry innovation.
From the former viewpoint, the laboratory activities aim at creating a new generation of researchers in wireless communications believing in the motto "Fundamental Research Through Experimentation". From the latter, EuWIn makes its facilities available to industries, both large and SMEs, providing an Open Platform for Innovation.
These goals can be reached in the long term by developing instruments and activities which will allow the involvement, at different levels, of the largest possible number of researchers and engineers. EuWIn will therefore pursue its goals through the implementation of several types of actions:
- Real world measurements helpful for fundamental research activities.
- Real world performance evaluation of fundamental research results.
- Links with industries, to ensure impact on standardisation bodies, product developments.
- Dissemination of research outcomes.
- Durable integration of resources and activities provided to EuWIn.
- World contests open to all researchers.
These lines of action will take the form of activities performed through an integrated approach by the EuWIn sites:
- A Web Repository including all measurement and experimental results;
- Web Meetings, to coordinate and plan visits of researchers;
- Workshops on experimental research;
- Training Schools on experimental research;
- Industry Liaisons established and maintained through frequent visits at the premises of industry labs;
- Demonstration activities at conferences, fairs, etc;
- Experimental Tours: PhD students visiting the three sites in sequence to achieve an integrated view of the different aspects of wireless networks.
